At 0400 hours on the morning of August 27, 2009 Rescue Squad 742 and Ambulance 742F were alerted to a personal injury collision on Arcola Ave. near Kemp Mill Rd. RS742 arrived on scene to find one pinned after their car struck a tree. The patient was pinned by their door and dashboard. C742C, M742C and E718 were added to the call. RS742 stabilized the vehicle, lit the scene and employed a variety of Hurst extrication tools to extricate the occupant. Once disentangled, the patient was treated by Wheaton EMS crews and transported to a local trauma center.

Around 0215 hours on the morning of Sunday, August 23, 2009 county dispatchers received several calls for help reporting a head on collision on Veirs Mill Rd. in the vicinity of College View Dr. Rescue Squad 742 and Ambulance 742F responded on the initial assignment with Kensington’s Engine 705B. Rescue Company 2 units arrived on scene to find a four car collision, two of which had struck head on, with dozens of patients and bystanders scattered around the scene. RS742 set up Veirs Mill command and immediately asked for an additional two transport units. The squad, ambulance, and engine crews began triaging the patients. The squad crew threw lights and secured the vehicles. Additional EMS units were requested as the crews determine how many were injured. Chief 742D arrived on scene and assumed command. In total six patients were treated. The patients were transported to area hospitals and trauma centers. The squad crew was back in service by 0245.

Around 2050 hours on the evening of August 15, 2009 the Wheaton Volunteer Rescue Squad was alert to a personal injury collision at Veirs Mill Rd. and Claridge Rd. The rescue squad and ambulance responded on the initial assignment with other Montgomery County fire/rescue units. Chief 742B arrived on scene first to find two vehicles in the roadway after a broadside collision with one patient trapped. RS742 arrived shortly thereafter. The crew separated the vehicles using the truck chains and the winch, pulling the vehicle without a patient away from the wreckage. The squad crew then quickly stabilized the vehicle and removed the drivers door allowing access for EMS crews. Within minutes the patient was removed and transferred to waiting EMS units.

Around 1850 hours on Thursday, August 6, 2009 county dispatchers filled Box 18-2 for a house fire with a reported fire in the kitchen on the 12200 block of Brookhaven Dr. Rescue Squad 742 responded on the assignment. While units were still responding, dispatchers received multiple calls of fire showing from the house and filled the rapid intervention assignment alerting M742 to the call. Rescue Squad 742 arrived with company 18 to find a single story house with heavy smoke showing. Upon entry to the house E718 knocked the fire in the kitchen and RS742 completed the search for any occupants still inside. The search was completed with negative results. The crew then controlled the gas and electric utilities. The Wheaton units were back in service within the hour.

Around 2030 hours on Monday, August 3, 2009 ATV742 along with other Montgomery County Fire/Rescue units were dispatched to the 5500 block of Norbeck Rd. for an injured person after a traumatic fall in the park. First arriving units found a single hiker injured after a fall off of a 70 foot cliff. ATV742 arrived at the staging area and transported paramedics and rescue equipment to the scene. On scene, the ATV provided scene lighting. The priority one patient was packaged and transported out of the woods to a waiting EMS unit.
