2nd alarm apartment fire in Wheaton

Rescue Squad 29 was dispatched with Company 18 and numerous other Montgomery County Fire/Rescue units for a reported bedroom fire in the 10800 block of Amherst Ave at 0340 on Saturday, April 8, 2006.

AT18, E181 and RS29 arrived on the scene of the three-story apartment complex and reported heavy fire showing from multiple windows. A Rapid Intervention Dispatch and 2nd alarm was immediately requested. RS29 conducted the primary search, ventilated, and secured utilities. M21 and A23 established the rehab sector and transported an injured Firefighter to Suburban Hospital. All WVRS units were released at 0629 hours. “Anytime Baby!!”

Collision in Aspen Hill pins one

At 0045 on Friday, April 7, 2006, Rescue Squad 29 was dispatched along with Engine 181 and Medic 259 for a car into a pole with one trapped. Engine 181 arrived to find the driver of a minivan pinned after striking a pole. Rescue Squad 29′s 4-man crew set up tools and lights, popped the driver’s door, removed the roof, and rolled the dash to remove the patient to the medic unit in 25 minutes. The patient was transported to a local trauma center.
